15 members and guests from the Wichita section met up in Hutchinson to take a tour of the Kansas Underground Salt Museum.  We picked a good day to take the tour because the hot Kansas summer quickly disappeared when the group took an elevator down 650 feet to begin the tour...it was a nice cool 68 degrees!  The underground tram ride took the group through the entire salt mine and we learned all about mining techniques, types of salt, and the world wide reach of salt exports from this mine.  Additionally parts of the mine are used for long term storage of documents, records, and even movie memorabilia.  Following the very interesting and entertaining tour, 8 cars caravanned to nearby Buhler, KS to have lunch at the popular Mustard Seed Coffee Shop and Deli.  The Reuben sandwiches are highly recommended!
