11th Annual Winterfahrt... A winters drive on some wonderfully challenging roads, over two mountains, visiting Brierfield Furnace State Park.

This popular traditional event will depart Edgar’s Bakery at Colonnade (intersection I-459 & US 280) at 8:30 am. Join us earlier for breakfast, if you wish.
We will follow some of our favorite twisty roads as well as others you may not be familiar with.
We will pause at the 155 year ruins of the Brierfield furnace state park. (admission $3/ person) before entering the Cahaba Wildlife Management area.
Emerging from this near the MBUSI factory we will make a short detour to the new consolidation center and the battery production facility that is under construction
We will also take a look at the expanded MBUSI factory before the short run up I-59/20 to the Bright Star in Bessemer.
Founded in 1904 this is the oldest continuously operated restaurant in Alabama. It is still owned by the original family. There is an extensive menu, favorites are the Greek style seafood dishes.
