Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum will host a lunch stop on the 2021 Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Haggerty. The cars will begin arriving at Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum at approximately 12 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 and continue at one-minute intervals for more than two full hours.

The Great Race, the world’s premier old car rally, will bring 120 of the world’s finest antique automobiles to the Sapulpa museum for the $150,000 event. The race will start June 19 in San Antonio, Texas, and finish June 27 at Greenville, South Carolina.  Sapulpa is the day three lunch stop for the racers.

Cars start – and hopefully finish – one minute apart if all goes according to plan. “The biggest part of the challenge, other than staying on time and following the instructions, is getting an old car to the finish line each day,” organizers say.  At each stop on the Great Race the public and spectators will be able to visit with the participants and to look at the cars.

Only cars built in 1972 or earlier are eligible, with most entries having been manufactured before World War II. In the 2019 Great Race from California to Maine, a 1916 Hudson won the grand prize, a 1932 Ford Cabriolet Hill won second place, and a 1932 Ford Victoria took third and splitting the $150,000 cash prize. The total purse is again $150,000 for 2020.

“When the Great Race pulls into a city it becomes an instant festival,” race director Jeff Stumb said.
