Southern Stars Section is hosting a Drive & Dive,

followed by a visit to the Tallahassee Automobile Museum!

The Tallahassee Automobile Museum (www.TACM.com), which is well in excess of 100,000 square feet, houses over 160 automobiles that range from an 1894 Duryea, one of the oldest automobiles manufactured in the United States, to the 1860 horse-drawn funeral hearse reported to have carried Abraham Lincoln.  The automobile collection spans all generations from the very first automobiles to the present.  Though most of collection is comprised of American cars, they do have some German cars in the mix.  As an added bonus, the museum also houses other collectibles that include but are not limited to:

One of the largest collections in the United States of Case knives.

Outboard motors dating back to 1908 and Florida fishing lures.

Adding machines dating back to 1864.

Antique brass cash registers and electrical fans.

Native American artifacts.

Antique golf collections (clubs and balls).

Baseball card collections and sports memorabilia.

Motorbikes and pedal cars.

Barbie and doll collections.

Many other items too numerous to list

Please consider joining us for an enlightening experience at the Tallahassee Automobile Museum.

On Saturday, February 27th, we’ll rendezvous at 8:30am in the parking lot of Krispy Kreme, 810 Cassat Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32205.  From there we’ll begin our caravan over I-10 to Hwy. 129 and take a restroom break at Busy Bee/Marathon Gas Station, 6458 US-129, Live Oak, FL 32060. This is the halfway point of our travels.  We’ll continue down I-10 to Hwy. 90 and over to our lunch destination at Backwoods Crossing Restaurant, 6725 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32308, arriving around 11:30am.  After a nice lunch, we’ll be just a few blocks from the museum, arriving around 1:00pm.  Be prepared to be amazed!  After a couple hours, we’ll caravan back to our home destinations.

This drive is approximately 152 miles one-way or a little over 2.5 hours.  95% of this drive is interstate.

Cost for this adventure:  $10 museum entry fee plus the cost of your own lunch.

Please visit Backwoods Crossing’s website at:  www.backwoodscrossing.com to check out their lunch menu and humble beginnings of becoming a farm to table restaurant.

Be on the lookout for an “Evite” email from MBCA Southern Stars to RSVP.
