Join us for a Sunset Cruise of Bat Watching

It is a spectacular sight to see the bats emerge from the bridge at sunset! An estimated 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats live under the Congress Avenue Bridge. It is the largest urban colony in North America, recognized by National Geographic, The Discovery Channel, and various other news media. Come relax on the lake, observe our unusual attraction, and listen to the narration and history provided by your captain.

The Houston Section will join us this year for this event.   Instead of bringing food to share, the cruise line has asked the section to minimize the amount of food on board, therefore we will be meeting for an early dinner at 5:00pm (location TBD).  Friends and family are welcome to this event.  The cost is $30 for members and $35 for non-members.   You are welcome to BYOB.

The schedule with the Houston Section, if someone from our section is interested in joining, listed below:

  • 12:00 – meet for lunch at the Oasis (this restaurant does not take reservations, so plan to wait if you join)
  • 2:00 – tour the Bob Bullock Museum
  • 4:00 – check into Hyatt Hotel (those of you staying at the Hyatt)
  • 5:00 - both sections meet for an early dinner/drinks/socializing
  • 7:30 – board the Lone Star Riverboat

We have a block of rooms at the Hyatt Regency, Austin, Tx.  The rate will be $169(plus tax, etc.).   Please click here to reserve your room.  This block of rooms will only be held until July 29, 2021.

We are now accepting online payment for this event.  Click here to pay for this event.
