The Greater Washington Section of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America (GWS-MBCA; http://gws.mbca.org/) is pleased to announce the 2021 Deutsche Marque Concours d'Elegance!

The Deutsche Marque Concours event is an ideal opportunity for GWS-MBCA members to join their BMW Car Club of America and Porsche Club of America friends in a celebration of our German marques.

We believe our NEW LOCATION, OCCOQUAN REGIONAL PARK, will provide an ideal setting and accommodation for our members. The park is situated between Interstate 95 South at Exit 160 (123 North/Occoquan/Lake Ridge) and the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia with beautiful Occoquan River views! Plus, the park's own food truck will be selling lunch by the main Pavilion building. Alternatively, you may also enjoy the park's on-site restaurant, Brickmakers Cafe, if you don't mind a long walk (or a super short drive in your non-Concours automobile, of course!) that day.

Now celebrating 37 years, some changes implemented in years past remain in order. Chiefly, GWS-MBCA members must register for this event via Motorsportreg.com (http://www.motorsportreg.com/).

If you are unfamiliar with this registration process, please review the following helpful hints:

  1. Register your username and password on Motorsportreg.com.
  2. Review this GWS-MBCA DMCdE announcement page.
  3. Scroll down and click on the green "Continue" button.
  4. A new page will open to select an entry type. Be sure to click the radio button next to the quantity drop-down box to expand the vehicle and class fields.
  5. You may purchase additional Awards Reception tickets on this page, too.

In the Deutsche Marque Concours d'Elegance, vehicles are judged by their condition, appearance, and cleanliness. Competitive Mercedes-Benz vehicles are divided into two classes:

"Concours Street" Class – Judges scoring cars in this class will follow MBCA National Concours Rules in which the Interior, Trunk, Soft Top, Chrome, Rubber, Glass, Lights, Engine Compartment, Exterior Paint, and Body Work (but not the Chassis/Underbody/Exhaust System) are assessed. On the day of the show, these cars will be divided into categories based on actual turnout.

"Concours Popular Vote" Class – Public ballot will determine the “People's Choice” award.

The "Spirit of the Deutsche Marque Concours Award" will be announced and presented as the finale to the Awards Reception. Jointly, the three local Concours Chairs from BMWCCA, PCA, and MBCA will choose one car from their Best of Marque recipients to receive this large and impressive award.

Also returning to the event lawn will be another multi-make "Car Corral" display area adjacent to the Concours lawn. The Car Corral remains free of charge and is open to the public to display any non-judged automobile. Space will be limited, but, because usually there are many interesting cars that end up hidden in the parking lot somewhere, the Car Corral will exist simply to highlight the level of automotive enthusiasm that makes an event like the Deutsche Marque Concours so popular year after year!

The Deutsche Marque Concours d'Elegance remains free of charge to spectators and the Concours entry fee will be $50 per car. Each Concours entry fee includes one Wine & Cheese Awards Reception ticket. Additional Reception tickets can be purchased for $25 each.

Please understand that in order to maintain fairness in judging, you must have your car both registered and in position on the lawn well before judging starts at 10:30 a.m., preferably by 10:00 a.m. If your car is selected for an award, the announcement will be made at the 3:00 p.m. Awards Reception. Please be present at the Awards Reception to receive it, otherwise, it must be awarded to the runner-up in attendance at the Reception.

To ensure this event runs smoothly, we invite you to volunteer your time! Volunteer opportunities include setting up our registration tent area, guiding entrants to lawn parking spots, handing out registration materials, participating as a Concours Judge, setting up our Awards Reception area, and helping to leave the facilities as we found them. Your input is very much needed and appreciated!
