Gathering place: 9:00 AM Starbucks, 2187 Meeker Ave, Richmond, CA 94804
Start your engines: 10:00 AM
History: Originally known as East Yards, Point Richmond was Richmond's central downtown area from the late 19th century until the early 20th century. Point Richmond Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The neighborhood is dominated by the Chevron refinery, and a very active Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) freight yard, which gives the residents a love-hate relationship with its trains. The BNSF “wig wag signals” are one of only a handful still in existence nationwide.
The neighborhood is divided by a ridge, which separates a "Bay side" and a "Town side." There is a mix of historic Victorians and century-old buildings dating back to before the founding of the town.
Our drive will include Rosie the Riveter Museum (tickets not included), a Drive thru Point Richmond, The Red Oak Victory ship and No-Host lunch at Lara’s Restaurant (Reservation may be required).
