Friday, Apr 22, 2022 - 11:00am to Saturday, Apr 23, 2022 - 10:00am
Natchez MS
Mississippi

The Mississippi section joined the judged show and car corrals at the Natchez Euro Fest 2022 car show. On Friday some of our members drove as participants in a police escorted 84 car caravan down to St Francisville Louisiana. After driving through some of the historic neighborhoods we met at a tree-lined park in the center of town where the Mayor greeted us with grilled hamburgers and all the fixings! On the return we drove the river road that parallels the Mississippi river seeing some wonderful sites. Saturday’s Natchez Euro Fest show and car corrals eclipsed all our expectations with 193 European cars and motorcycles combined. Outstanding weather, the Natchez Grand Hotel, and fabulous cars contributed to a terrific event!

>>Then PAY Online HERE by April 21, 20, 22<<

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT IS RAIN (SNOW) OR SHINE! THERE IS PLENTY OF INDOOR AND COVERED SPACE. SHOULD THERE BE SEVERE INCLEMENT WEATHER FORECASTED, WE WILL POSTPONE THE EVENT FOR OUR MEMBERS?

Q: What is Mercedes-Benz Silver Star Preservation Class?
This class is for cars 25 years old (The model year 1997) or more senior that are mainly original and have been unrestored since new. It is intended for driver-quality cars that have withstood the ravages of time, climate, and daily driving. It is not intended for “Trailer Queens”-for those we have a Show Class- nor for rusty and dirty barn finds that do not operate properly and have not been on the road for several years.

Q: Why should I enter for Silver Star Preservation Class?

This classification is designed to formally recognize original cars that meet the defined set of standards by presenting the owner with a certificate commemorating the event and displaying a photo and pertinent data suitable for framing. It can also add to the provenance of your car whenever one intends to sell or insure it. The certificate awards the owners who have treated their pride and joy gently over the years and have resisted the temptation to restore. As the saying goes," they are only original once," and as we all know, you cannot regain originality! (Source: mbca.org)

Q: Who will be Judging the Entrants?

Each Silver Star entrant will be given a Silver Star Preservation Classification Score Sheet and be instructed on how to complete it. The cars are self-judged by the entrant following the form. On the record, the owner informs the judges which aspects of the car are entirely original and which parts have been altered over time. The judge, assigned by the section, will review the completed form with the entrant, evaluating each aspect of the car. If the vehicle has earned enough points to be certified, the reviewers verify the findings and initial the form. A digital photo of the entrant’s car in JPEG format is taken at the show. The completed classification form and the image are forwarded to the MBCA National Business Office. The MBCA National Business Office will create and send to the owner an official Silver Star Certificate formally declaring the car to have met the Silver Star Preservation Class standards. The owner may also purchase a specially designed badge from the MBCA National Business Office.

Our Board members, Tyler, Mark, and Austin, will be serving as Reviewers for this event.

Application forms will be provided.

Will Rogers Memorial Museum

Claremore
Oklahoma

The Ozark Section of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America invited the Eastern Oklahoma Section to join them for lunch at J. Farley’s Pub Restaurant and the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in Claremore, Oklahoma. Twenty-nine members and 15 vehicles from the two sections were able to get together for an amazing afternoon. J. Farley’s Pub was established by Chris Hayes and James Franklin, in memory of their dear friend and fire fighter, Jason Farley, who lost his life in a flood rescue while on duty with the Claremore Fire Department. The pub had recently moved to its new location on Lynn Riggs Boulevard (Hwy. 99). There is a designated wall in the restaurant for fireman to attach their respective fireman patches from wherever they may have served. Joel Menold, an Ozark MBCA Section member, was a volunteer fireman in Klein, Texas, for many years. He was honored to attach three patches from the Klein Fire Department, the Harris County Fire Fighters Association and Texas State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association. From the pub, members drove to the Will Rogers Memorial Museum at the top of a hill overlooking the city and valley below. It’s a beautiful view. Arrangements had been made to have a tour guide meet us as we arrived at the museum, and we were honored to have Andy Hogan, a former high school principal and a 17-year volunteer at the museum. Andy stood on stage and explained the life of Will Rogers and did rope tricks. We were also given the opportunity to watch a 30-minute film about Will Rogers. Will Rogers and family members are interred on the grounds. The museum is full of beautiful paintings, sculptures, saddles, and memorabilia. Andy also gave Dottie Miller a lesson on how to twirl a rope!!! This was a great event and a destination to experience one of our special public heroes. Thank you to the Eastern Oklahoma Section for joining us once again and to Joel and Kathy Menold for organizing the event.

MEMPHIS SECTION Drive and Dine to Pickwick Dam on the Tennessee River, June 19, 2021. In our Section’s first group event in more than a year, six Mercedes-Benz models from an SLK to an SUV, and 10 members and spouses made the 90-mile drive from the showroom of Mercedes-Benz of Collierville out to Pickwick Landing State Park in Counce, Tennessee. Our route took us east along TN 57, one of the most scenic rural byways in west Tennessee. The first order of business when we arrived was lunch at the newly renovated restaurant at the Lodge and Conference Center at the State Park. The great view from the restaurant included the lock and dam at Pickwick Landing, built in the 1930’s by the TVA as part of the navigation system that allows commercial river traffic all the way up the Tennessee River to Knoxville. Sure was great to get out and drive and meet again with Section friends!
