I retired from USAA in 2007 as an I/T Systems Analyst after 30 years. I am now enjoying my retirement, but keeping very busy. I flipped a house with 3 friends shortly after my retirement which was a lot of work, but a learning experience all the same. I have since purchased a newer home that is my permanent residence. And I am now doing some remodeling of that house, enjoying the new neighborhood and making new friends. I also enjoy doing some of the regular maintenance on my 2 Mercedes Benz's. I love driving both my Benz's.  I purchased a 2002 S430 4 years. A one owner, low mileage vehicle, and Mercedes dealer maintained. I am now enjoying that car, and learning about all the options it has... and how to use them. It is a pleasure to drive, and a great highway car. In 2016 I added another Mercedes to the garage. This one is a 2009 SL550 - and I love the car. It has 38k miles on the odometer. I accidently ran accross the car online. It was something that I just look at and dream about. It was listed for sale above what I was looking to spend - and I really didn't need to be looking anyway. But this car just stayed in my mind. I would wake up at night thinking about it. So I decided that I would just send the owner a short note telling him how much I admired the car... but it was a bit over what I could afford to pay. To my surprise, the owner replied to me and thanked me for my interest. I replied back telling him if he came down on the asking price to let me know. Shortly there after, he said he would sell the car for what a dealer had offered him as a trade on a truck that he was going to purchase. The trade value of the car was a much better price, so I made arrangments to go see the car. It turned out that this car is a Silver Arrow Edition - 1 of 550 made in 2009. The car now is a resident in my garage... and what a great driving car! I love it!

I parted with my 2002 S430 recently. I sold it to a good home - a friend a neighbor that lives across the street from me bought it. The replacement for me is a 2013 S550 with the AMG package, Sport package, and the panarama roof. What a great addition to the garage! Althought the car is 5 years old, it has only 38k miles on the odometer... and it drives beautifully. I love it.
